Project Overview
Carr & Duff was the Electrical Contractor for this Rehab Project of the 127 year old Northampton Street Toll-Supported Bridge – more commonly known as the Easton-Phillipsburg Free Bridge.
Carr & Duff upgraded the electric system, replaced roadway and sidewalk lighting, and installed the highlight of the project – its programmable color-changing LED architectural lighting system.
This project, which was originally delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, came to fruition in November of 2023 with a one-of-a-kind lighting ceremony.
Built in 1896, The Easton-Phillipsburg Free Bridge is The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s (DRJTBC) second oldest superstructure and is also their busiest non-toll span. With its unique cantilever truss design mimicking the profile of a suspension bridge with two towers, it is only the second bridge of its kind with the other located in Budapest, Hungary.
